The Work Behind Us
State Nonprofit Status
Alaska Rural Health Transformation Program
We have submitted a grant application to the Alaska Community Foundation for the Rural Healthcare Transformation Program. This program distributes Federal grant monies to Alaskan communities and entities to develop and improve healthcare access across the State.
Our application is currently pending final award status.
We applied for and were granted non-profit status by the State of Alaska. This allows us to begin the application process for Federal nonprofit recognition - while official committing ourselves to the process of bringing year-round healthcare to the Denali Borough.
The Work Ahead
Federal Nonprofit Status
Securing a Location
If Denali Healthcare Advocates secures funding through the Rural Healthcare Transformation Program, the immediate need is updating the previous clinic location to move-in-ready status.
This will require some facility updates, purchasing of basic medical and office equipment.

Attaining Federal nonprofit status is necessary for the second phase of start-up. This allows us to receive a Federal EIN number - required for opening bank accounts, hiring employees and receiving grant funding.
Securing Staffing
There are a wealth of local healthcare providers residing in the Denali Borough. Our goal is to fully staff a clinic with the skilled residents who are already living here.
The Unseen Management
Clinics are more than just healthcare, unfortunately. They also require administration - from paying the daily bills to insurance billing, to cleaning at the end of the day. Creating the structure for a fully operational clinic and its moving parts requires policies, procedures, software, utilities and more.
